Poodle – A simple emulation of search engine ranking factors

As a quick investigation of possible ranking factors a search engine may use, and the possible weightings attached to these factors, I created a spreadsheet which attaches rankings for search queries to a mini-corpus of 10 documents. Spam in Poisoned World Cup Results

After staying up four in the morning to watch a terrible draw between America and England, I didn’t feel like repeating the experience when England’s next match against Algeria was scheduled for the same time. Which Web 2.0 ranks best? Hubpages vs Squidoo vs Tumblr vs Blogspot etc.

An important consideration when creating a blog or forum is how well it will rank in search engines. Related is how well you can use such a forum to help push a more imortant site up the rankings. Much of this is due to factors such as the content and how many links you have directed to it, but not all hosts are created equal.
